Early Sunday morning, Xie Luyang did not go for a morning run. He instead went to the gym by himself.
He noticed that Su Zhou’s knees were red last night. It didn’t matter if he wore long pants to work, but sports shorts obviously couldn’t cover up the evocative marks.
He had been thinking about how to solve that problem as he showered. The weather grew increasingly humid. It would be embarrassing for Su Zhou to regularly have peculiar bruises visible on his body. Perhaps he could lay out a carpet.
Su Zhou loved to sleep. If no one woke him, he would remain asleep till noon. Xie Luyang left the gym and went to Su Zhou’s favorite restaurant to pack a few dishes. He arrived home just in time for lunch.
It was just as he expected. Su Zhou had just woken up and was in the middle of brushing his teeth. When he noticed Xie Luyang had returned, he spat out his toothpaste and asked, “Why didn’t you wake me up?”
“Your knees aren’t red anymore?” Xie Luyang casually teased him.
Those words had him immediately associating it with the shameful scene from the night before. Su Zhou immediately fell silent, swiveled around, and washed his face.
Xie Luyang found Su Zhou’s polarizing personality particularly interesting. One side of him was sheepish, and the other was bold. Just like how yesterday he had effortless called him master but his body’s reactions could not fool anyone.
After washing up, Su Zhou could smell something he liked coming from the table. When he noticed his favorite dishes on the table, he exclaimed in surprise, “We’re not eating greens today?”
“I already ate. These are for you.”
Su Zhou half-heartedly stared at Xie Luyang, then picked up the chopsticks and nonchalantly began to eat. He seemed starved from the way he ate. Xie Luyang had always been curious about how he was able to consume so much.
Su Zhou slowed down as Xie Luyang continued to smile to himself. The latter asked curiously, “What’s wrong? Is it not good?”
Su Zhou halted. “Stop staring at me. I can’t eat if you keep doing it.”
So, he was shy. Xie Luyang continued to tease. “I’ve seen you masturbating. Why are you acting so shy when I watch you eat?”
Su Zhou, as expected, choked as he struggled to speak with some difficulty. “Can you not casually just say things like that?”
“No.” Xie Luyang promptly answered.
“Are you deliberately making it hard for me to eat?” Su Zhou put down his chopsticks, his tone exuding dissatisfaction.
His expression made Xie Luyang want to tease him more instead. “Did I do it on purpose? If I wanted to, you wouldn’t be able to eat right now.”
Hearing this, Su Zhou’s drooping eyelids twitched. He wasn’t sure which Xie Luyang was speaking at the moment and tentatively asked, “Can I eat if I allow you to stare at me?”
Xie Luyang was unable to pretend under Su Zhou’s cautious demeanor. He stood up and walked toward the living room. “Eat up. I’m just teasing you.”
Xie Luyang went to the living room and switched on the TV. The house was far too quiet. The duo would inevitably feel discomfort. However, his mind was not on the TV program. Su Zhou’s reaction had made him a little uneasy. He began to worry that if this unique relationship were to last a long time, Su Zhou would only see him as a master and nothing else.
He absentmindedly stared at the television as he thought about it helplessly. Now, they could only take one step at a time.
After Su Zhou did the dishes, he also went to the living room where Xie Luyang was watching a movie. Seeing Su Zhou sitting comfortably next to him was endearing. But the words that came out of his mouth were, “It’s more comfortable to kneel, isn’t it?”
Su Zhou originally wanted to ease the atmosphere but was hesitant to speak. When he heard Xie Luyang’s unfriendly remark, he could no longer regulate his expression and turned to head toward his bedroom.
Xie Luyang immediately regretted his words. Seeing that Su Zhou seemed upset, he hurriedly took his hand and asked, “You’re angry?”
“…No,” he murmured.
“Then, don’t go. Watch this movie with me for a while.” Fearing that Su Zhou would refuse, Xie Luyang dragged him to his side.
Su Zhou did not jerk back and obediently sat down next to Xie Luyang. “What movie?”
“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Have you seen it?”
Su Zhou shook his head.
“I haven’t seen it either. I just started a while ago. I’ll rewind it.”
Xie Luyang gave Su Zhou a cup of tea a few minutes into the movie. “I’m sorry about just now. I was just casually teasing you.”
Su Zhou did not expect him to apologize and spoke nervously, “…I’m not angry.”
Over the next two hours, neither spoke a word as they watched the movie intently.
When the end credits began to roll, Su Zhou sighed, “Brad Pitt was a looker when he was younger.”
“So, all you noticed about the movie was that Brad Pitt was a looker?”
“What else did you see?”
“Don’t just ask me. Don’t you have any thoughts about it?”
Su Zhou earnestly considered it for a moment. “I think that if you truly love someone, you should accept every part of them.”
Xie Luyang turned to look at the cross-legged Su Zhou and asked, “Does anyone truly know you from inside out?”
He was surprised to see Su Zhou shake his head. “What else is there that I don’t know about you?” Xie Luyang couldn’t imagine that Su Zhou still had anything to hide after he had confessed to his most unseemly fetishes.
Su Zhou did not answer and instead turned to look at him. “Is there anything you know that I don’t?”
There is. I love you. That is what you don’t know.
Xie Luyang thought about it and immediately understood. How could he possibly know who held Su Zhou’s heart? It wasn’t as though Su Zhou was willing to tell him.
Seeing that Xie Luyang had fallen silent, Su Zhou asked, “What do you think?”
“Everyone wants to meet the right person at the right time. But, reality is not always satisfactory. Love also needs time.”
“What sort of timing?”
“That’s what I want to know.” He also wanted to know how to make Su Zhou fall in love with him.
“I thought you’d know. So, you’re still clueless after watching the entire movie?”
“The movie doesn’t talk about it. These are just my own sentiments”
“Your sentiments are so patchy.”
“Are you trying to pick a quarrel with me?” Xie Luyang frowned.
Su Zhou did not realize that he was only pretending to be angry, and he blanched in panic. “Are you angry? I was wrong. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize,” Xie Luyang hurriedly answered. Su Zhou’s reaction had him bemused and miserable. He leaned close to Su Zhou. “You and I only differ when you are made to kneel. At no other time do you have to apologize to me.”
“So, you’re not actually angry no matter what you say?”
Xie Luyang solemnly nodded. “Mn, it was a joke. Didn’t we use to bicker a lot?”
“That’s you and Chang Dong.” Su Zhou finally settled down. “I wonder if he’s finally gotten over his lost love.”
“I don’t think he has anything to worry about. If you have time, you can worry about me instead.”
“Oh, I do worry about you.”
“You do? Why can’t I tell?” Perhaps fearing his master’s anger could not be considered care.
“You can’t tell?” Su Zhou wore a thoughtful expression. “Oh, then I probably just don’t care about you.”
Understanding that Su Zhou was deliberately teasing him, Xie Luyang grabbed Su Zhou’s hand and pushed him down on the sofa to tickle him. “You dare make fun of me?”
Su Zhou was ticklish, laughing and avoiding him. “I was wrong! I was wrong!”
“So, you know you’ve done wrong. Hurry up and call me elder brother!”
“Why should I call you elder brother? My birth date is earlier than yours.”
“Are you going to say it or not? If you’re not, you can just call me Daddy instead.”
Su Zhou curled up, laughing so hard that he could barely catch his breath. “I’ll do it! Let me go first!”
Xie Luyang thought his actions seemed dubious, but he obediently released Su Zhou. “Come on!”
Su Zhou sat up and smoothed down his hair. “Elder brother or Daddy?”
Xie Luyang was taken aback. He knew of slaves who would refer to their masters as Daddy, but he hadn’t thought Su Zhou would want to use that title. “You want to call me Daddy?”
Su Zhou was finished from the moment he had asked that question.
When he watched a training video for the first time, the slave in it referred to his master as Daddy. He thought it was role-playing at the time but later discovered that this was a common phenomenon. After acknowledging Xie Luyang as the master, Su Zhou gradually began to develop ideas that he once disapproved of. However, he was afraid that Xie Luyang would think he was abnormal, so he only dared to internally reflect on it. To think he would have a slip of the tongue. He tried his best to reclaim ground. “No. I was just fooling around…”
“Call me that.”
Su Zhou looked up in surprise, not expecting Xie Luyang to provide feedback of the sort.
“Just once. You don’t have to do it every day.” Although Xie Luyang hadn’t thought about it, Su Zhou had reminded him of it. He was suddenly eager to listen to him.
Su Zhou stared at Xie Luyang for a while and felt as though the latter wasn’t teasing him this time and was staring at him expectantly. So, he cleared his throat, knelt on the couch, shut his eyes, and took a deep breath. He then opened his mouth. “daddy.”
This made Xie Luyang freeze. He used to tell his friends to kneel down and call him daddy as a joke. The answer he received was usually an expletive.
He never dreamed that his beloved would actually do it right before his eyes. Xie Luyang swore in his heart. One of these days, Su Zhou might actually drive him crazy.
