Sweet Illicit Love and Sexual Coincidences - Chapter 18.2
Chapter 18 Part 2
Since Ding Yan was invited, the beginning naturally had to go smoothly. The leaders first toasted with him. Ding Yan looked sophisticated and handsome, but he was also very proficient in these kinds of social occasions and looked like a man at work. Ding Yan was also very open-minded when it came to dinner parties.
Manager Xu of the company raised a toast to Ding Yan. “Come, welcome Manager Ding to our company at Pukou City.”
Ding Yan also stood up and their glasses clinked. He skilfully drank a mouthful and the festive dinner began.
Su Nanxing thought that no one could reach this level of leadership if they were a pushover.
Su Nanxing had to be given a toast since she was an industry director from the provincial company and was here for the second time. She didn’t eat too much at lunch because she was worried about work. So before she could eat some food this evening, she went through a few toasts. After three or four drinks, she felt a little uncomfortable and the rate of her drinking slowed.
When the fifth person came to make a toast, Ding Yan, who was next to her, raised his glass and said, “I’ll have one with you.”
The man was a middle-level leader in the Marketing Department. He was overjoyed when he was acknowledged by a top leader. He quickly said, “Here’s a drink for you. Let’s make a toast.”
Although Ding Yan did not come to the prefecture-level city company often, he still remembered this man and said, “I remember you. When I came here last year, your department’s director praised you for your ability. When you were promoted at the end of last year, your department’s director gave me your name, and I personally approved of his selection.”
Su Nanxing listened to Ding Yan and thought that this was Ding Yan’s charm as the Marketing Manager of the Provincial Company. Before Zhou Yi was promoted as the System Integration Department’s Manager at the age of 27, Ding Yan was the youngest manager there. She heard that he also had an uncle who was the HR Department’s Director in the group company. His skills and network were extraordinary.
When the middle-level team leader heard Ding Yan’s words, he appeared really excited. “I didn’t expect you to remember me.”
Ding Yan smiled like the spring breeze. “I remember everyone who is exceptional.”
When everyone in the prefecture-level city company saw Ding Yan’s elegant demeanor, they all thought at once that a leader who could achieve this level of leadership in the provincial company at such a young age really wasn’t easy to deal with. Manager Ding, or that Manager Zhou from last time, or even Director Su sitting with them, were not ordinary comrades. They could work as much as two people during the day, yet joke around during dinner after work. They were all talented people.
Later, another person tried to drink with Su Nanxing, and they were blocked by Ding Yan. Su Nanxing knew that Ding Yan was helping her and she sighed a little on the inside. This was Ding Yan’s thoughtfulness. He never said it out loud, but he was considerate and meticulous.
Everyone in the room also saw that Ding Yan was blocking alcohol for Su Nanxing, but no one said anything. They just didn’t drink with her. At the end of the dinner, Ding Yan, who drank an unknown number of bottles, unexpectedly knocked out the leaders of the company by himself.
As for how Ding Yan was doing, he looked the same as he usually did: clear and calm. When he was sent back to the hotel by the driver, he asked Su Nanxing, who rode with him, “Would you like to take a walk at the beach? I want to get some air and let the alcohol smell disappear.”
Su Nanxing’s thought of how Ding Yan helped her at the dinner just now, and she didn’t say that she wanted to refuse. Instead, she agreed and followed him to the beach through the hotel’s underpass.
Pukou City was a seaside city. There were many high-end hotels built with a passageway that went directly to the beach and made the atmosphere a bit more private.
It was late at night and there was no one at the beach. The moon hung above the waters, and Su Nanxing could hear the sound of the waves rolling.
When there was sand in her shoes, she took them off and carried them. She walked barefoot on the beach.
Ding Yan’s eyes fell on her white feet, and carefully looked away.
After they walked in the sea breeze for a while, Su Nanxing said, “Thank you for blocking the alcohol for me.”
Ding Yan said, “It’s nothing. I’m used to it. I saw that you did not eat a lot at dinner…”
He added, “No matter how busy you are at work, you have to eat properly.”
Su Nanxing agreed and they continued to walk forward.
After walking for a while, Ding Yan said, “Let’s go back.”
They were quiet and did not speak.
Su Nanxing thought, this is good.
