Second last chapter for this title ?
Personally I was so glad that it ended with a happy ending. The author was very mean to end the “Chapter” on a high note, only to reveal the true ending in the Extras omg!
Yan Jing still remembered the grand occasion where he led the Yan Army into the royal court of the northern XinJiang that the many years of hardships finally came to an end when they successfully subdued the invading barbarians.
When the Great Wizard of the North was brought before him, all three of his generals had urged him to proceed with the execution, but somehow, Yan Jing’s natural instincts said otherwise, which was why he had released the wizard.
And the wizard had, indeed, repaid his sudden kindness in kind.
“I have been waiting for you for a very long time.” The wizards started, “There is some sort of connection between this jade bracelet and you, please take it.”
Yan Jing had fallen into a deep slumber after inspecting the flawless white jade bracelet at night, with the stories told by the Great Wizard still faintly echoing within his ears.
His dreams were extremely odd that night, but though he could not see the human appearances clearly, the dreams were mostly in-line with the great wizard’s stories.
It was about how two brothers fell in love with their younger sister, and while one was extremely possessive of the sister, the other had guarded her silently. The scenes unfolded quickly, and in a blink of an eye, their beloved sister was murdered in cold-blood.
One brother ascended the throne, while the other gave up his flesh and blood in exchange for a reincarnation…
At that time, Yan Jing did not know the true meaning of such dreams, but on the day he left the North, there was a sharp pain and a sense of loss and emptiness within his heart.
It had lasted the entire journey home, until he laid his eyes on a different Yan Luan1. That was when he felt as if his heart was finally full and warm.
He felt as if he was satisfied and content like he never was before.
He wanted to possess her immediately, just so he had a reason to protect her from any harm for the rest of her life. And his obsession for her was to the point that even when Yan Dao joined him, he had allowed it even though he did not like it.
The love within Yan Dao’s eyes were unconcealable, and Yan Jing recognized it instantly, as they were the very same eyes he saw in his own reflection.
But most importantly, he realized that Yan Dao’s frame looked quite similar to the man in his dreams, the one who sacrificed his own life for his younger sister.
“Elder brother, do you think it’s good to be an emperor?” Even now, Yan Jing could still hear his beloved sister’s voice in his heart.
Was it good? He wondered as he caressed the emperor’s seat beneath him, so frigidly cold that he could not feel a single warmth from it.
Not that it affected him though.
Ever since that day when he lost her, it was as if his entire heart was frozen in ice.
He felt no warmth, nor any emotions towards anything else in the world.
He had united the continent, but for what? Every day was a torture, and life was meaningless.
Only once did he visit the cliff where he lost both of his siblings, but it was enough to cause him so much pain that if it wasn’t for Princess YongKang, who had gripped onto him with all her strength, he would’ve jumped off the cliff to join them willingly.
His heart left with her, so what is the point of living?
All he could do was to send batches and batches of men down the cliff, as hope was the only thing that was keeping him alive now, though barely.
Hope that she was just temporarily gone, that she had just lost their way and she was waiting for him to pick her up.
“Your Majesty! We found them!”
Hope. Is real.
Jiang FuYuan was six months into her pregnancy, while Yuan Jun2 could almost be considered a personal hound to her at this point. He was exceptionally skilled in handling her requests, instantly bringing her water when she was thirsty and hand-peeled fruits when she was hungry.
Even Yan Luan was greatly impressed by her best friend’s man-handling skills.
“You’re really on a new level.” She giggled as she caressed Jiang FuYuan’s unusually huge stomach. The imperial doctors had confirmed that she was having twins, which had excited Yuan Jun to the point that he decided that he would take care of her needs personally.
His happiness was unpreventable, because after the miscarriage from before, it took Jiang FuYuan more than three years and countless are herbs to heal her weakened body.
To think that she was bestowed with twins at one go.
“Nonsense! Don’t tease them so much, they’re extremely fussy.” Jiang FuYuan clicked her tongue in playful annoyance, “There’s no explaining how uncomfortable it was for me when they start their daily kickings.”
But though she said this, not once did she reject her best friend’s touch.
As a woman, getting pregnant was something all women would eventually experience… But not for Yan Luan, as she would never bear a child3
“Ah Luan, when I give birth to girls, let’s have her engaged to your son!”
“My son does not lack wives.” Yan Luan chuckled proudly as she fanned herself with a hand-held fan.
Yan Sheng was, in fact, of Yan Family’s bloodline, though his mother, Yan Fei, passed from maternal death. He had been taken in by Yan Jing right after he was born, and when he was finally passed over to Yan Luan, he was already three years old.
Yan Sheng was a very lively child, plus having been raised personally by Yan Jing since birth, he was able to read and understand the art of war at a mere age of three.
They had never kept it a secret that Yan Fei was his real mother, but Yan Sheng was exceptionally reliant towards his foster mother, Yan Luan.
“Hmph, I wonder who he takes after, to be so intelligent and handsome. I don’t care, I want him as my son-in-law!”
Yan Luan smiled helplessly, but she was truly happy for her best friend, who had finally regained her liveliness and vitality after leaving the imperial palace.
When Yan Dao and her were found, news had it that both Jiang FuYuan and Yuan Jun had died in the incident, but thankfully, they were able to escape via a secret tunnel in time.
To think that after so long, they’re finally neighbors once again.
“Aunty, what if both of them are girls?” Yan Sheng’s tiny head suddenly appeared on the windowsill, but before both women could respond, Yuan Jun, who was carrying tea into the room, bristled aggressively.
“Bad boy! Do not speak nonsense, of course they’ll be twin brother and sisters4
Yan Sheng ran away while laughing cheekily, but not before leaving behind his final words, “Mommy! I want to marry both sisters!”
“Who taught him that!?” Jiang FuYuan muttered under her breath as she sighed wearily at the too-active child.
Yan Luan could only rub her nose awkwardly at her words. Of course she would not tell her that Yan Dao was the one who taught him that……
It was time to leave, and Yan Luan was leading her son home (next door), but the little fellow somehow managed to escape from her grasps and gathered a bunch of wildflowers before returning to her.
“Mommy, can I get a hug?” Yan Sheng asked, blinking his huge eyes adorably at her while offering her the flowers he collected.
Peeking at the looming mansion not far away, Yan Luan squatted down quickly in front of her son before staring into his shining bright eyes, which were full with anticipation and longing.
Her brothers forbade her from hugging him, but she has a weakness for bun-like children, and her hands were already itching to hug him.
“Hush, keep your voice down, otherwise your fathers will hear of this.” She snickered cheekily before opening her arms, intending to take him into a big hug, only to find that the body she hugged was not the softness of a child.
She opened her eyes in confusion, only to see that she had hugged Yan Jing’s thigh instead.
“Ah ha ha, elder brother! What a coincidence!”
Meanwhile, Yan Sheng was already being lifted up by Yan Dao, wiggling around as he tried to escape from having his buttocks smacked a few times.
“Mommy…” He whimpered as he realized that there was no escaping his punishment.
Meanwhile, Yan Jing leaned over and hugged Yan Luan, who was still stunned with surprise from the ambush.
“Did Ah Luan forget what happened the last time you hugged him?” He laughed as he squeezed her delicate buttocks in a punitive manner.
In fact, the last time Yan Luan failed to resist the temptation to hug her son, the consequences were major, as her brothers had played with her in new and unexplored ways and positions for three days straight.
This slight reminder of his was enough to completely extinguish the ticklish temptations in her hands, and instead, she quickly wrapped her arms around Yan Jing’s neck and rubbed her cheeks against his playfully.
“Forgive me, Elder Brother, I promise not to do it next time~”
Sigh, the downsides of having possessive men. She can’t even hug her own son…
Three years had passed since the failed rebellion, and all of them seemed to have matured during this time. Though Yan Jing had retired from his role as the Emperor, his temperament was still as aggressive and as handsome than ever before. While Yan Dao, who was in charge of raising Yan Sheng who was demonically cheeky, had lost his cold and indifferent air, which was replaced by the frequent burst of anger at the cheeky boy’s daily actions.
As for Yan Luan, who was still the meticulously protected one in the family, was still beautiful and alluring, as if she had not aged a day.
“Let’s go home, it’s getting chilly outside.” She said.
The two men looked at each other and smiled. Such was the life they craved, peaceful days with their beloved sister.
Never will they be separated ever again.
Yan Luan – Title “Mi Yang Weng Zhu”, the daughter of the imperial princess and the FL of the story.
Yan Jing – Eldest brother of Yan Luan, momentarily known to be the ‘Legendary instant-cum’. Reliable and steady, but is secretly fond of playing with his sister in unimaginable ways.
Yan Dao – Second brother of Yan Luan, bloodthirsty and quick to act. Is usually cold and gloomy except when Yan Luan is around.
Yan Fei – Elder sister of Yan Luan, vicious and revengeful towards her family due to her dead mother, who had been a mistress to Yan Rong. Hated Yan Luan due to her engagement to Emperor QiLing. Currently changing over a new leaf as she had let go of past grudges.
Princess YongKang – Aunt of the current emperor, mother to Yan Luan, Yan Jing, Yan Dao and Yan Fei. Holds dominance of the HuaiYin Hou.
Yan Rong – consort of Princess YongKang, father of Yan Luan, Yan Jing, Yan Dao and Yan Fei.
Bian Shi – Childhood friend and illegitimate wife of Yan Rong, mother to Yan Fei. She had been kept in his personal villa for many years as a secret lover, finally given the title of a mistress only after Yan Fei was born. Princess YongKang had somewhat allowed her into HuaiYin Hou, but she had, instead, tried to cause a rift between her husband and the princess, finally resulting in her imminent death on the hands of Princess YongKang.
Wang AnZhi – The eldest son of the Wang Family, he used to be a quiet and gloomy man, until he fell in love with Yan Luan. But after knowing that she did not see him that way, he eventually turned crazy (aka: a yandere).
Emperor QiLing – Current emperor of the dynasty, his full name was Yuan Jun and he was kept in position as a puppet-emperor by his overly-ambitious mother. He had a very weak and sickly body. Yan Luan’s fiancee.
Queen Dowager Chu – Her maiden name was Chu MiaoZi, mother to Emperor QiLing and sister to Lord Chu. She was a manipulative and ambitious woman who seeks to grab the entire dynasty within her palms.
Lord Chu – Title “Guo Jiu”, brother of the current Queen Dowager
(TNote: Guo Jiu means “uncle of the country”, usually bestowed to the emperor’s uncle.)
Lady Chu – Legitimate wife of Lord Chu after his previous legitimate wife passed away
Chu YunShang – Title “Xian Zhu”, daughter of Lord Chu, pampered and loved by the queen dowager
Chu Meng – Brother to Chu YunShang, husband of Yan Fei and fiancee to Princess Hanna.
Jiang FuYuan – the other girl who had drowned together with Yan Luan on the day of the feast.
Lord and Lady Jiang – House Jiang was bestowed the title “Heng Guo Gong”. It is a title of nobility and authority. (TNote: From what I’ve seen, there are usually 4 of these Guo Gong in each country, the position is pretty high, I think it’s right under the Wang title if I’m not mistaken…)
Princess Hanna – youngest princess from the northern country, likes Emperor QiLing but is engaged to Chu Meng (Yan Fei’s husband).
Zhao Yu – Princess YongKang’s loyal personal hand-maiden, sort of like a butler who handles all of her daily affairs and orders. (Used to be Zhao Yan, but the author decided to change her name midway through the story)
HaiYun Hou – The lord of a ninth grade HouFu, this name was never mentioned (up until now), the prime minister initially had plans to marry the 3rd miss of this family to Emperor QiLing, as he believed they were “a match made in heaven” due to one being a puppet emperor and the other a mere woman with no strong backing.
Han Wang – One of the strongest lord belonging to the Saimo Banner from Bei Jiang (the northern continent). Han Wang and the Saimo Banner that he belonged to had always been a threat to the king of Bei Jiang, and now, he is to be suspected as the father of Yan Fei’s child.
Ah Cha JunZhu – Cousin sister of Yan Luan, daughter of Prince Liang. Has a crush on Yan Jing.
- I would assume that this was because the true Yan Luan’s soul was in the modern world, but when her soul returned, Yan Jing’s soul recognized the one he loved instantly
- Emperor QiLing’s name, and Jiang FuYuan’s husband
- Because both brothers took the medicine that would not allow their sperm to impregnate their sisters, so as long as she’s with them (not that they would ever let her go haha), she would not be able to bear their children.
- The original word was “Dragon Phoenix Twins”, where ancient royalties believed that giving birth to a pair of twins of different genders were exceptional children.
