Who is the Prey? - Chapter 11
He Yan stayed in the hotel for five days before daring to go home on Sunday night. When she entered the door, Liang Yuanze was surfing the Internet in his study. He heard the noise and came out to check. He leaned against the door and held her shoulders. He had a smile on his handsome face but he said, “Bad girl, do you still know to come home?”
She stood in silence, her eyes slowly reddening.
Liang Yuanze was taken aback for a moment. He forgot about pretending to be cool and hurriedly hugged her, patted her on the back and coaxed her softly, “It’s okay, baby. It’s all my fault, it’s my fault.”
The familiar sensation and gentle voice made He Yan feel at ease, but it also made her feel aggrieved, and her tears could not stop falling. Liang Yuanze became scared. His thumb gently wiped the tears on her cheek and asked her with concern, “What’s the matter? Yanyan, what’s wrong?”
She really wanted to tell him everything, but she couldn’t. Not because she was afraid that he would dislike her, but to not drag him into danger. No husband can endure that kind of harm and insult to his wife, even if he was as gentle as Liang Yuanze. What would he do? And how would that bastard Fu Shenxing deal with him?
He Yan couldn’t imagine it, and she couldn’t help being frightened even by the thought of it. If she was dragged into a dark hell by Fu Shenxing, she would leave Liang Yuanze in the light no matter what. She smiled with tears, wrapped her arms tightly around her husband’s neck and muttered in a low voice, “I missed you, Yuanze. I just missed you a lot.”
He missed her, too. He wanted her so badly. First, he was away from home for more than half a month, then after returning, she wasn’t there for five days. That adds up to more than twenty days. This was the longest they were apart ever since they met. It almost drove him insane. He hugged her, coaxed her, first touched her back with his hand, and then headed downwards.
“Skinny,” he said, annoyed.
She could not tell the truth, instead giggled, “I’m dieting.”
“Diet, my ass!” Liang Yuanze could not help swearing, but his hands were already stripping her clothes impatiently.
The entangled pair made their way through the entrance, only to reach the sofa and tumble over.
One was passionate, the other was nearly crazy. In the end, he had to pin her waist with his hands, trying to control her crazy rhythm. He gasped for breath, “Baby, slow down. Don’t worry. Let’s take our time.” He changed his position, rolled over to hold her in his arms and kissed her softly.
He Yan’s face was flushed, as she sobbed and begged, “Kiss me, Yuanze. Kiss me everywhere. Don’t miss a single spot.”
She asked him to kiss her, to erase the traces of the bastard with his breath, and to cleanse her soul.
The couple went crazy during the night. When they got up the next morning, He Yan felt her waist was sore. The appearance of her supporting her waist and staggering made Liang Yuanze smile. He fastened his tie and was heading out. After taking a few steps, he looked back at her and asked with a smile, “Can you still drive? Do you want me to take you to school?”
Forgetting all the sadness and suffering for a moment, she grabbed the hairband in hand and threw it at him, saying bitterly, “Get out! Let’s see if you’re up to it tonight again!”
He smiled and turned around. He walked over to the dining table, leaned down to give her a long deep kiss, savoring the taste endlessly, “Today’s orange juice is not sweet enough, buy it from somewhere else.”
“All right, I got it.” She answered solemnly but did not forget to ask him, “Come back as early as possible in the evening. Let’s go to my parents’ for dinner.”
After sending off Liang Yuanze, He Yan drove to school. First, she went to end her leave, then held a meeting with the student leaders in the class to arrange the New year’s party.
Some people mentioned that Xu Chengbo sang well, but the class monitor gave a complicated look, “He has a lot of part-time jobs and doesn’t enjoy participating in group activities. I’m afraid we can’t ask him.”
He Yan nodded slowly. While writing down the suggestions made by several student leaders, she explained on behalf of Xu Chengbo, “He may be too busy to have time for that. After all, it is not easy to work multiple jobs. So, tell him to come to see me later. I’ll try to persuade him. “
The monitor agreed and at noon, Xu Chengbo came to the office to find He Yan.
When there was nobody in the office, she locked the door from the inside, took out both mobile phones and cautiously opened them to compare their internal structures. There was no difference. She carefully examined it for a while and basically made sure that Fu Shenxing did not install any bugs on her mobile phone, but only used a software to control it.
He Yan probably had a lot in mind, as she hurriedly reassembled her phone and restarted it again. Right then, Xu Chengbo’s call came in. She jumped and was relieved after reading the caller ID carefully. She told him to come directly to the office.
After a short while, Xu Chengbo came but he looked unnatural. He asked with his eyes down, “Teacher He, did you need me for anything?”
Because of her own experience, He Yan was now extremely sensitive when contacting people, even some bush or tree1. She quickly sensed Xu Chengbo’s strangeness. While talking to him about the New year’s party, she paid attention to his look when he wasn’t paying attention. She suddenly asked, “Why did you apply for a part-time job at a store so far away from school?”
Xu Chengbo’s eyes trembled sharply, and this microexpression did not escape He Yan’s observation. She tentatively asked again, “Is it because of what happened at Fu?”
Xu Chengbo was silent for a moment then replied, “Yes. I don’t want to come into contact with anybody from that company.”
He Yan had always been suspicious about that incident from before. She looked at him after hearing his words, “I never got the chance to ask you, what was that matter about? Did you and that secretary know each other before?”
“I didn’t know her before, but she ordered several times in a row some time ago, all of which were delivered by me. That’s how I got a bit familiar with her, but I had never seen her before. Then, she suddenly groped me that day. I was scared so I ran away,” Xu Chengbo replied awkwardly.
“You fled.” He Yan smiled.
Xu Chengbo also smiled. His expression looked a lot more natural than before.
He Yan took the opportunity to ask him again, “Did she know that you were a student at our school?”
“I don’t know, I’m not sure.” Xu Chengbo did not know why she asked that and continued to explain, “Later, someone from the security department of the company asked about my school, so I just gave them your number. Teacher He, I didn’t mean to cause you trouble. “
This was clearly a trap. The ultimate goal was her and Xu Chengbo was just a bait to lure her into the trap. But How did Fu Shenxing find out about Xu Chengbo and make use of him? He Yan pondered inwardly, but put a smile on her face, “It’s fine. You are my student, so you should find me if you need anything. It wasn’t troublesome at all.”
He Yan paused, then asked casually, “Does anyone in the class know that you work at that fast food restaurant?”
“Many do,” Xu Chengbo replied.
He Yan unconsciously raised her eyebrows, somewhat surprised, “Huh?”
Xu Chengbo smiled sheepishly and explained, “I often upload some photos of work to my Moments, so many students in my class know that I deliver food. Teacher He, I am poor, so I have to work everywhere to earn money, but I find it a shameful thing. “
He Yan was a little touched. She smiled and praised him, “Xu Chengbo, you2 are amazing.”
Suddenly, she realized that Fu Shenxing was spying on her, so he must check her current class. Investigating online was indeed a very convenient method, just as she searched for his information on the Internet before.
In that light, Xu Chengbo can really be used. Of course, it may also be that his acting skills are too good.
He Yan did not intend to ask any more questions for the time being. She didn’t want to arouse anyone’s suspicion, so she just smiled, “Okay, it’s all right. You can hurry up and go.
By the way, a professor in the School of Management needs an interpreter. The translation is not very difficult, but the pay is pretty good. If you are interested, I can recommend you to him.”
Xu Chengbo was pleasantly surprised, “Can I?”
“I think it should be all right,” He Yan replied. She continued “Well, how about I recommend you to try it first?”
Xu Chengbo responded quickly and thanked He Yan.
He Yan smiled and waved her hand, motioning him to go quickly, “You go to class, don’t disturb the teacher and my work.”
Xu Chengbo got up and left, but he stopped at the door. He turned around to see her and hesitantly asked, “Teacher He, you and your husband have a very good relationship, right?
He Yan was taken aback by his question, and raised her eyebrows subconsciously, “Huh?”
Xu Chengbo looked a little uncomfortable, “I heard the girls from class say that your husband is very handsome. You were in love with each other since high school, and got married after a long run of more than ten years. Everyone was envious.”
He Yan did not know why he mentioned this and nodded slowly, “That’s right.”
“I was quite envious too when I heard it,” Xu Chengbo paused, took a deep breath, as if mustering his courage, then added, “I think it is particularly difficult to have such a relationship in the current society. So, it should be cherished.”
“Thank you,” she heard what his words meant outwardly. She slowly erased the smile on her face and asked him, “What do you really mean?”
Xu Chengbo looked at her directly, with the stubbornness of a young man in his eyes, “Teacher He, I don’t think Mr. Fu is a good person.”
He Yan was stunned before realizing that he must have misunderstood the relationship between her and Fu Shenxing. She didn’t feel offended by his remarks that were akin to teaching. On the contrary, she felt a little warm in her heart. He’s a stubborn and kind boy. She stared at him silently, and said after a long time, “Mr. Fu and I are not familiar with each other. He is Yu Jia’s cousin. He came to the school to go through the suspension procedures for Yu Jia. That’s how we met.”
“Yu Jia’s cousin?” Xu Chengbo’s looked surprised, “Yu Jia has such a cousin?”
He Yan trembled inside, “Do you know Yu Jia?”
In order to approach her without showing any trace, Fu Shenxing used her two students one after another. Xu Chengbo here seems to be simply exploited but what about the girl Yu Jia?
She didn’t really believe that he was Yu Jia’s cousin. How did he persuade Yu Jia to drop out of school? This is not a small deal. Was it a threat or an inducement?
If I get to the bottom of this, will it become a piece of evidence for her to expose his identity in the future?
Xu Chengbo turned to walk back and replied, “Not very well.”
His answer made He Yan a bit disappointed.
“However, I once met her when I was working,” Xu Chengbo stopped halfway through, as if hesitating, “Teacher He, Yu Jia might have worked as a hostess. I don’t want to badmouth her, and I’m not sure, but I definitely did bump into her twice.”
This was really beyond He Yan’s expectations, but after thinking about it, it made sense.
Xu Chengbo did not know who Fu Shenxing was, and only added, “If Yu Jia had a cousin like Mr. Fu, why would she do that kind of work? Mr. Fu won’t allow it either.”
He Yan was a little confused. She desperately needed to calm down and carefully collect her thoughts about the whole thing. Moreover, if Xu Chengbo was simply used by Fu Shenxing, she didn’t want to involve him in this matter. She raised her eyes to look at him, and said in deep thought, “Well, you head back first and don’t tell anyone about this.”
“Teacher He, think about it. If Mr. Fu is not Yu Jia’s cousin but pretends to be her cousin to help her with the suspension procedures, doesn’t this mean that he is not a good person?” Xu Chengbo seemed to be trying to prove to her that Fu Shenxing was not a good person.
He Yan naturally knew that Fu Shenxing was not a good person. Not only was he not a good person, but he was also a complete scum. She smiled, “I’ll take care of this, so don’t worry about it anymore and study hard.”
Xu Chengbo hesitated to speak, but in the end, closed his mouth and went out with his head down.
Throughout the afternoon, He Yan was thinking about how to investigate Fu Shenxing. There was minimal information available on the Internet. She must start from real life, but where should she start? Yu Jia? Will it be possible without being noticed by Fu Shenxing? Or should she secretly investigate Fu Shenxing first? But she was being monitored by Fu Shenxing, and her cell phone would expose all her whereabouts to him. If she was the slightest bit careless, she would alert3 him.
And if she can’t make a move, who else can be trusted without drawing Fu Shenxing’s attention and suspicion? For a while, He Yan couldn’t think about it for long.
When she was leaving work, she received another phone call from Fu Shenxing. He merely said one sentence, “Teacher He, attend a party with me tonight.”
Ahahaha, I said I would update after my exams but I finally got a hold of my lappie. How couldn’t I?
